HIGHLIGHTS

  • New chat bubble redesign has been spotted on WhatsApp for iOS.
  • The feature brings new colours, design to chat bubbles.
  • WhatsApp is also working on a reactions feature for its users.

WhatsApp is rolling out new beta versions for both Android and iOS. With this, the chat app is bringing several new features for its users on both platforms. In the most recent of such updates, the company seems set to bring a redesign to the chat bubbles seen by WhatsApp users on iPhones.

The feature currently seems to be under development and might be rolled out to iOS beta testers in a future update. It has been seen before by Android beta testers, which gives us a hint at what to expect from the new chat bubble design.

As spotted by WABetaInfo, the newly redesigned chat bubbles sport a more rounded look than before. They also appear to be larger and more “modern” than the ones we are used to seeing on iPhones. The bubbles even feature a new green colour that is lighter and shinier than the dark green we see at present. The new colour adds more zing to the chat window and the previous green looks much pale in comparison.

WABetaInfo reveals that WhatsApp is now working to bring this redesign to iOS beta testers. It first introduced the chat bubble redesign on WhatsApp beta for the Android 2.21.13.2 update. It is only now that the company is working on bringing the changes to its iOS user base too.

We are yet to see the new design in action before we can comment any further on it. Though from what we can see in the screenshots shared by the publication, the redesign looks interesting and will certainly add a freshness to the WhatsApp experience that we are all so used to.

The redesign also assures us of WhatsApp’s constant endeavours to refresh its user experience. Another such example is that of reactions on WhatsApp. The app is said to be working on the feature and might be rolling it out soon.

Once out, these reactions will let users react with emojis to another person’s messages, much like the Instagram chat works. Users will be able to select from a total of 7 emojis for reactions. As per WABetaInfo, the feature is currently under works and should be rolled out to Android and iOS beta testers soon.
