Microsoft is making some key improvements to the Xbox PC app, with The Verge reporting today that you’ll soon be able to install games to any folder of your choice with unrestricted access, allowing you to mod them freely as well.
In a statement to the website, Microsoft confirmed that certain plans are in the works:
“With great PC games like Back 4 Blood, Age of Empires IV, Forza Horizon 5, and Halo Infinite on day one with Game Pass, we wanted to provide players with more options to customize their experience in the Xbox app. We’ll continue to share updates as we launch additional features.”
The changes should mean that installing PC (and Game Pass for PC) games is a much easier process moving forward, with less issues cropping up relating to things like permission problems with the WindowsApps folder.
It’s being reported that these improvements are being tested internally for now, so there’s no release date as of yet.
