Universal Pictures and Nintendo announced the official Japanese voice cast for The Super Mario Bros Movie, which will come out in 2023. There are also some new trailers for it, as well as a Japanese version of it. You can get your first listen to the Japanese voices from there. [Thanks, Oricon!]

So far, we know the Japanese voice actors for five major characters. They are:

  • Mario: Mamoru Miyano (Light from Death Note, Ryuji from Persona 5)
  • Peach: Arisa Shida (Amanda from Little Witch Academia, Thor from Wise Man’s Grandchild)
  • Luigi: Tasuku Hatanaka (Yuma from Yu-Gi-Oh Zexal, Gorou from Genshin Impact)
  • Bowser: Kenta Miyake (Scar from Fullmetal Alchemist, All Might from My Hero Academia)
  • Toad: Tomokazu Seki (Kougami from Psycho-Pass, Kanji from Persona 4)

The majority of this cast are highly prolific and award-winning voice actors. You can check out what the cast sounds like in the Japanese version of the The Super Mario Bros Movie trailer:

The trailer, which Nintendo debuted during a Direct on November 29, focused a bit more on Princess Peach, Luigi, and Donkey Kong. There are also some new posters for the movie. More information on the cast, as well as trailers, will appear closer to the film’s 2023 release window.

The Super Mario Bros Movie will appear in the US on April 17, 2023. It will appear in theaters in Japan from April 28, 2023.
