NEW DELHI: Apple has announced that the latest version of its operating systems — iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 – will come to iPhones and iPads by this fall. The new version will bring various useful and important features to iPhones and iPads. However, a new online report suggests that with iPadOS 16, the Apple iPads will lose out on a feature with the coming of iPadOS 16.
According to a report by MacRumors, with the rollout of iPadOS 16, the Apple iPad users will not be able to use an iPad as a home hub to control the HomeKit accessories. The report adds that a text has been found in the second developer beta of iOS 16 which mentions that iPad will no longer be supported as a home hub.
“A home hub is required to take advantage of features like receiving accessory notifications and allowing other people to control your home. You will not be able to view shared homes until those homes are also upgraded to the latest HomeKit. iPad will no longer be supported as a home hub,” as reported by MacRumors.
Once the iPad loses this functionality then the users will have to switch to a HomePod, HomePod Mini or Apple TV in order to use the features enabled by the hub. For instance, users will have to use the above-mentioned devices in order to access Siri remotely or to use location-based automation features.
